While all the discussions of MI5 are absolutely captivating (volume
and quality in postings - such a rare treat!), perhaps a return to
Brazilian Music. So I will throw out the question: what are the best/
favorite forro albums in your opinion? I have heard a limited amount
of forro (Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinho, Jackson do Pandeiro, Sivuca,
Oswaldinho, various compilations), but have never really dove into the
music. I also become quite partial to Xangai of late, although he
wouldn't really qualify as forro.

This album by Oswaldinho, Sivuca, and Dominguinho is a favorite:

Just say "no" to google groups. I haven't seen one of them. Though I
have noted in my newsgroup-reader (Mac: Unison, Windows: Agent) a lot
of groups indicated 6 new posts, and then when I open the
group--nothing!

My favorite: "Asa Branca - Accordion Music from Brazil". "Music for
Maids and Taxi-Drivers" is also a winner. The David Byrne collection
"Brazil Classics 3 - Forro" is an excellent intro.

If you don't have a collection of Luiz Gonzaga, you deserve one. My
favorite is "50 Anos de Chão" in three volumes.

I have a number of sides by Dominguinhos and I love them all.

As tons of disturbing MI5 spams flood this newsgroup as seen in my
Google Reader, none of them appears in my email client where I also
subscribed through my university's news server.

I complained to Google twice, and eventually they banned the spammer's
account.
Unfortunately, they didn't erase his posts.
